The Exodus Decoded is a documentary style film first aired April 16, 2006 on The History Channel. The program was created by Israeli-Canadian filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici (who recently visited Beth Israel) and producer/director James Cameron. Jacobovici combines archeology, biblical stories and dramatic visuals to present his accounting of the Exodus. 92 min. Movies begin at 4pm and discussion follows. A $3 contribution is suggested. An old Jewish baker Nat Dayan (Tony award-winning actor Jonathan Pryce) struggles to keep his Kosher bakery afloat in London’s East End. Understaffed, Nat reluctantly enlists the help of teenager Ayyash (Jerome Holder), who has a secret side gig selling marijuana to help his immigrant mother make ends meet. When Ayyash accidentally drops his stash into the mixing dough, the challah starts flying off the shelves and an unlikely friendship forms between the old Jewish baker and his young Muslim apprentice.
